Making Nets
WALT make nets for simple 3-D shapes and to and create models of these.
Making nets
A net is a ruled 2D pattern that folds to make a 3D shape.
These are patterns or nets for making cubes.
I enjoyed making these because they were fun.
These are my nets folded into 3D cubes.

Croesus Tramp Recount
Croesus Tramp
On the 11th of August 2021, room 8 went on the croesus tramp. My mum took a car, in my group was Olive, Kade, mum, and I. We drove to Blackball and followed the signs to the trail, we went up a long gravel road it felt like it went forever, and we thought we went the wrong way. Eventually we made it to the car park.
Mum and I only had one tramping bag so I took the big one and mum took a normal backpack. Mum's bag was too small to fit all her stuff in so most of her things ended up in my bag. My bag got really heavy and I had to adjust all the straps to make it more comfortable. Our first stop was at a swing bridge. The swing bridge was really fun. I enjoyed running across it.
There was a lot of steep uphill which was quite hard with my big pack on. We kept moving until we got to Garden Gully. I expected a little more than what it was, it just looked like the track. I didn’t expect a garden but maybe some grass and a picnic table, but no there was nothing, there wasn’t even enough space for the whole class to sit, but at least I got a break and some food.
After Garden Gully it got cold and wet, we weren’t stopping until the top. I looked up from where we were standing and it was all uphill. As we walked higher it got colder, the grass on either side of the trail was frosty and cold. The frost turned to snow and ice. That's how cold it got! Emma saw the snow and she went mad. She picked it up and threw it and started a huge snowball fight.
With the hut in sight I ran, it was the most energy I had the whole trip. I got inside, took off my shoes and my bag and ate all of my lunch in about five minutes. I got a photo with all my friends and we set up my phone to do a ‘tiktok’, it almost fell over so Ms Kemp picked it up and filmed for us. It was quite funny trying to dance in front of everyone and with Ms Kemp laughing at us. We set off again this time back down the mountain.
The walk down was my absolute favourite part. The snow fight was even bigger this time me and Emma were throwing snow at the James, Kade and Issac. We had to look out because they were throwing them back. James got Emma right in the head, it was pretty funny but she got angry. Emma makes the best snowballs, she makes them super big! She made a massive one and told me that if I got James with it I could have it. I took the snowball and chased him down the hill he started running and eventually made it to the front of line and couldn’t go any further. I threw the snowball into the side of his head and ran back to Emma. We were in for it now! They were chasing us up and down the mountain. But their snowballs couldn’t beat Emmas.
Eventually we ran out of snow so we all just walked together and talked, which was better than having cold snow down your neck. Emma and I were talking and I wasn’t watching where I was going so I tripped on a rock and my knee cap went straight into another. It was hard to walk after that, I was limping a little bit and it was quite sore but alright.
That wasn’t the only time I fell over the other time I was watching where I was going but I stood on a mossy rock and my feet skidded out to the side of me. Billie told me I looked like a funny penguin because my arms were beside me and I didn’t move them to try to save myself. I just skidded out like a brick tipping over. This fall didn’t hurt and we couldn’t stop laughing about it.
The way back didn’t take nearly as long as the way up. It went super fast. We made it back to the cars in no time, well that's what it felt like for me at least. At the end we all stopped in a small hut with seats and had a chat with all the parents and teachers, then we got into our car groups and headed off.
I was really hungry because I had eaten all of my lunch so I asked mum if we could stop at the diary. I got a bag of caramel popcorn, kade got an ice block and, of all things, Olive chose candyfloss. We ate our food and headed back home.
